What this sensor is

The SmartElex / SLAMTEC RPLiDAR A1M8 is a 360 laser-based LiDAR scanner used for:

  • Mapping surroundings

  • Robot navigation

It's basically a rotating laser scanner that creates a 2D map of your environment
